ROCK CHALLENGE: "HEAL THROUGH THE ARTS"

Using the excitement of performance and the allure of youth culture in a positive environment to inspire students to lift themselves beyond what they thought they could do. Each year the RC-J event is staged in some of Japan’s best entertainment venues - using professional film, photographic, sound, lighting, stage-crew & venue facilities; fully insured & JASRAC compliant.

RECOGNISED BY UNESCO & WHO AS ONE OF THE BEST HEALTH-EDUCATION PRODUCTS WORLDWIDE

ROCK CHALLENGE-JAPAN (RC-J)

The "Rock Challenge" (RC), a dance, drama, music and design competition, originating in Australia, is a truly unique performing arts program. Globally, and with particular reference to Japan, there is no similar activity. Schools self-produce, choreograph, design sets, engineer soundtracks, create stage-lighting treatments, manufacture costumes, style make-up treatments, co-ordinate visual recording, stage manage and raise funds for their production. Show day involves rehearsals, interaction and enjoyment. In the evening schools perform to a live audience of their peers, families and community members. Performances are judged by a panel of specialists from the performing arts industry.

GLOBAL ROCK CHALLENGE

www.globalrockchallenge.com

From Australia, the Global Rock Challenge has since expanded into New Zealand, UK, USA, Germany and South Africa involving some 100,000 participants from 1350 schools on stage in 120 shows in 57 cities each year. This expansion has continued in 2006 into Japan, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and other African countries. The GRC has brought more than 1,000,000 young people onto the stage.

Enthusiasm of students, teachers, parents and schools for the Global Rock Challenge is matched by continued support from governments, corporate and philanthropic organisations around the globe. Sponsors generously contribute the resources to provide the opportunity for students to participate in professionally produced events.

RC-J … ITS VISION

Hans Emblad former Director - (WHO) World Health Organisation’s Program on Substance Abuse.

“In my 30 or 40 years of experience of combating drug abuse or alcohol abuse or tobacco misuse this is by far the most effective preventative action I have come across, one of the very few preventative activities to have a proven record of being successful, and I think anybody who considers these problems important in the world and have the possibility and the means to make a contribution should seriously consider supporting the Rock Challenge."

The RC-J PROJECT name is:
Rock Challenge - Japan (RC-J)
Part of the Global Rock Challenge project which is recognised by UNESCO and WHO worldwide

The RC-J PROJECT mantra is:
Health. Life Skills. Creative Thinking.
Encourage healthy, positive lifestyles; attending/striving at/finishing school; and to be their best in every aspect of life

The RC-J PROJECT mission is to:
Entertain, inspire and motivate young people
... through a ‘real-world’ curriculum (extra-curricula activity) to encourage resilience, self-reliance and compassion
